The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta’s (MJCCA’s) two dance groups will take to the stage together in December for a production of the beloved ballet, “
.” The MJCCA’s professional adult dance company, The Collective Dance Project, and the invitation-only children’s dance program, The J Dance Company, will be performing together for the first time, Thursday, December 3, and Sunday, December 6.
.” The MJCCA’s professional adult dance company, The Collective Dance Project, and the invitation-only children’s dance program, The J Dance Company, will be performing together for the first time, Thursday, December 3, and Sunday, December 6.
This non-traditional ballet features music from the classic score by Tchaikovsky, mixed with modern music from several productions, including Disney. The story is a re-telling of the by classic novel by Lewis Carroll, and is based on “Through the Looking Glass,” a made-for-TV production from 1985, that featured a variety of entertainment icons from Carol Channing, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Ringo Starr to modern stars of the time such as John Stamos and Scott Baio.
The production features Collective Dance Project dancers in 16 character roles and a mix of dancers from the two groups. The spotlight will be shared by three dancers from The J Dance Company, who will each perform the title role of “Alice” in one of three performances. Dancers appearing as “Alice” include: Katelyn Ketover, Catherine Kitchens, and Faith Vidal-Gobia.
Ideal for all ages, the public is invited to see these dancers showcase their talents during three performances at the MJCCA’s Morris and Rae Frank Theatre at the MJCCA’s Zaban Park campus, located at 5342 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody, Ga.
PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:

6 – 8 P.M., Sunday, December 6
