Make Your Own Drum!

By Laura Miller September 22, 2016
My kids have been having so much fun with this drum! Try different sized cans to see how that changes the sound!

What you need:
One empty tin can, we used a 28oz can
Clear packaging tape
Paper, your choice

What you do:
1. Be sure to use a can without any sharp edges. Carefully wash and dry the can.
2. Cover the opening of the can with packaging tape, making sure to overlap the edges to make a seal. You will probably need to overlap two pieces in order to cover the whole can.

3. Wrap decorative paper around the outside of the can and tape it on. You can choose to draw or color on white or colored paper, use scrapbook paper, construction paper, or even strips of different paper. We used strips of colored construction paper and my daughter drew musical notes on them. You can decorate the top of the drum with permanent marker too, if you'd like.

4. Enjoy keeping the beat on your very own drum!
