Dunwoody Dash

October 15 at Austin Elementary

By Austin Elementary September 29, 2016
Austin Elementary is at it again with another fun Dunwoody Dash, taking full advantage of Fall weather on Saturday, October 15.  “The Dunwoody Dash has always been a fun race, but this year’s event will feel more like fall festival with more sponsor tables, kid’s activities and food options.  We are so thankful for our support of our many community sponsors!,” exclaims Foundation Corporate Sponsor Chair and Austin parent, Cheryl Spitalnick.  Previously held in April, Austin leaders felt the Fall air would be more conducive to holding a linger-friendly event.  The race will have jumpies, food trucks, face painting, bubbles and plenty of fun for parents, neighbors and kids.

The Dunwoody Dash comes on the coattails of Registration, where Austin Elementary Eagle Foundation held its annual Foundation Drive, raising funds to enhance the student’s learning experience, mainly by increasing staff.  While the Dash also raises money to support the Foundation, its true focus is to bring students and the community together for the benefit of health and wellness.  “Last year was so fun, it seemed no-one wanted to leave.  With that in mind, we are giving more to the participants… creating a bigger event that will last longer, include more activities and social outlets,” states Jill Wirka.  The kids will have Kona Ice snow cones while the parents drink their coffee and nibble on good eats.

The Eagle Foundation was initiated by Kelley Patilla, Foundation President, and since her creating the Foundation Austin made great leaps by becoming AdvancED STEM Certified and earning the Governor’s Honor Platinum status for Greatest Gains and Highest Achievement.

Join us on Saturday, October 15, at Austin Elementary for a 5K or 1 Mile Fun Run. The event starts 8:30 a.m. and registration is online HERE.  Registration is $25 and includes Dunwoody Dash T-shirt.  If you aren’t a runner, come and support those who do and have fun on our complimentary jumpies!

Austin Elementary is located at 5435 Roberts Drive in Dunwoody.
