Good grades are great, but rewarding effort can be great reinforcement, too! A few businesses also offer rewards for reading for fun or school.

Barnes & Noble has a Summer Reading Program where kids can earn a free books. Details are released in late spring each year. While you’re there, be sure to enroll in their Kid’s Club rewards program for discounts, rewards, and a free birthday cupcake!

Six Flags’ Read to Succeed Program begins in the fall and is open to teachers, schools, and homeschoolers. Kids who complete 6 hours of recreational reading are eligible for a free ticket to Six Flags. A great way to remind kids that all that reading pays off in unexpected ways!
