Disney Channel's Peyton List

February 25, 2013

I recently had an opportunity to interview Miss Peyton Roi List from the Disney Channel’s Jessie

Peyton was early for the interview at 7am California time.  I was immediately impressed, I’m not near alive at 7am.

She was born in April of 1998, in Florida where she got her start in modeling at age two.  Peyton’s middle name (Roi) is unusual, so I asked her about it.   Peyton said her Grandfather and Mother both have that middle name, so it was passed down to her.   Her family, along with her twin brother: Spencer and eight year old brother Phoenix moved to New York.  Spencer is her best friend and Phoenix is lots of fun.   At age six, she started acting in commercials.    Her first “big break” was in 27 Dresses with Katherine Heigl.     Peyton would advise any young child who wants to pursue acting is to get involved in school plays and practice, practice, practice.  Its lots of fun to be an actress, Peyton said, you get to learn lots of new things each week.

Peyton is involved with two charities.  She is the StarPower Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation.   She does a lot of crafts and activities with the children.   Peyton also is involved in Girls on the Run.    She likes to go to schools and surprise the children. Peyton talks to them about running and current issues they may be having.

Peyton is like any normal teenager, she likes to hang out with her friends, go to movies, shop, hike, bike, and go to theme parks.   Peyton’s favorite color is purple.   Her dressing room has purple everything.   She is in 9th grade and is homeschooled on set.   Peyton is in the classroom anywhere between three to five hours per day.   Her favorite subject is English and writing.  Currently for school, Peyton is reading To Kill a Mocking Bird

I asked Peyton about Diary of a Wimpy Kid’s author: Jeff Kinney.  She said he is hilarious.   He is constantly making up funny, weird questions.   She even said that the character Peyton Ellis was based on her.

Finally, we talked about Jessie.  Peyton has similarities with “Emma Ross”, being a “fashionista” was one of them.     The costume designer at the end of the season, allows the actors to pick out clothes to keep that still fits them.    Peyton and “Emma” have the same fashion taste as well.

I enjoyed my conversation with her.   I went to Northpoint Mall and had a chance to meet Peyton, Noah Munck from “iCarly,” and Calum Worthy from “Austin & Ally”.  Peyton was just as nice on the phone as in person.
