At the age of 7, Carter Samuel Martin faced cancer with determination and a smile. Before losing his battle with Ewing’s sarcoma bone cancer, he told his mother, “Cancer can’t take away love.’’ Carter envisioned a cure. With the support of the Carter Samuel Martin Innovative Therapy Research Fund, physicians at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of CHOA are committed to stopping childhood cancer.
"Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is proud to once again be a part of the annual Hotlanta Charity Classic," said Dave Winokur, Development Officer for the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation. "We are thankful to the Structor Group and Carter Martin's family for their relentless efforts to support the Aflac Cancer Center at Children's and help find a cure for childhood cancer."
Mike Schilling, Owner and Vice President of Structor Group, started the Hotlanta Charity Golf Classic along with his friend and colleague, Tom Olson. Collectively, the annual event has raised over a quarter of a million dollars for CHOA and the Carter Samuel Martin Innovative Therapy Research Endowment.
“Scott Martin (Hines), father of Carter Samuel Martin, is a personal friend and colleague,” says Mike Schilling. “We are honored to help raise funds to further the important research of childhood cancer and make Carter’s vision a reality.”
