Summer Camp at The Goddard School®

Powered by STEAM and Fueled by Fun

By The Goddard School® July 11, 2019

For more than 30 years, The Goddard School has been a trusted name among families. Its classrooms are safe, nurturing environments for children six weeks to six years, offering age-appropriate opportunities to explore and discover.

Each Goddard School owner works to make sure every family enjoys a warm, positive experience. They strive to provide the highest quality program for each child. The Goddard School’s play-based F.L.EX.® Learning Program ensures that they meet high standards specific to early learning, development, and care.

The F.L.EX.® Learning Program (Fun Learning Experience) is grounded in research on how children learn best: children experience the deepest, most genuine learning when they are having fun. It’s designed to help build each child’s emotional, academic, social, creative and physical skills – including 21st-century skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking - to provide a well-rounded experience and help each one become school-ready, career-ready and life-ready.

21st-century skills also tie in directly with STEAM learning (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics). The Goddard School introduces STEAM concepts early on to help promote children’s natural curiosity in these subjects, increasing the chance that children will pursue STEAM-related careers later on in life.

It is not enough to simply introduce STEAM learning to children, though. These concepts should be presented in a fun, playful way. For example, when children play with blocks, they are not just playing with blocks. Rather, they are building (no pun intended) engineering skills.

The Goddard School’s summer camp incorporates STEAM learning into exciting and fun experiences for children every day. The Goddard School’s learning-through-fun philosophy has been integrated into every aspect of its summer camp to foster play-based learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. They’ve created a variety of camps so each child can find a program he or she will absolutely love.

The summer camp at The Goddard School of Chamblee (Brookhaven) features special visitors such as Jeffini the Magician, firefighters from the local fire department and many more. The students also cool off with a refreshing “Water Day” every Wednesday. The School’s wildlife habitat, which includes a variety of native plants, fourteen different types of herbs, seven types of vegetables, a hummingbird feeder and more than eleven different flowers/pollinators, is certified by the National Wildlife Federation and fosters a passion for STEAM learning through hands-on activities.

The summer camp at The Goddard School of Sandy Springs offers a wide array of programs, including a robotics/coding week, a filmmaking week, a circus week and a Kitchen Chemists day, all of which allow children to learn by doing. The program also features several special guests such as My Reptile Guys, Jumptastic and Jemima’s Playhouse Show. The summer wraps up with a bubble party that lasts all day!
