Planned PEThood of Georgia Pet of the Week: Sapphire

By Planned PEThood of Georgia January 14, 2021

Planned PEThood of Georgia is a non-profit organization. Their mission is to reduce the number of animals killed in the local shelters and to provide affordable services, not to make a profit. They keep overhead costs low in order to keep their prices affordable. Donations are welcome to assist with their efforts!

Sapphire was a momma cat who raised two adorable kittens that have been adopted. She enjoys snuggles and will purr like crazy when you are petting her. Sapphire does not enjoy being held and like most cats, will provide you plenty of affection on her terms. She lives with a big, gentle dog and LOVES him. Sapphire also likes head bumps and is happy sleeping next to your pillow when you go to bed. She will tackle all balls or round fuzzy things and has a cute, tiny, little meow.

SPECIAL NEEDS: Sapphire is special needs. She has Immune Mediated Haemolytic Anemia (IMHA). That means that her body attacks her red blood cells. Sapphire's IMHA is regulated by a daily dose of Prednisolone (an affordable pill). Prednisolone is a steroid, so annual bloodwork is recommended. Sapphire is on a prescription diet (Z/D) and a special daily probiotic that can be mixed in with her wet food.

Sapphire is negative for FIV/FeLV, up-to-date on shots, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. The adoption fee is waived for an approved adopter.

If you would like to meet Sapphire or know which adoption site she will be attending this week, please email Michelle Stepp.

Planned PEThood of Georgia hosts adoption events each weekend at several locations. They are at the Petsmart in Johns Creek (corner of Medlock Bridge and McGinnis Ferry Roads) and also at the Petsmart in Lawrenceville (Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road) every Saturday starting at noon. They occasionally host adoption events at other locations. Please visit their Facebook Page or Website to see where they will be this weekend!

Ready to adopt this beauty? Please complete our online application here.  It will be reviewed and the foster will then contact you. (Alternatively, you can download and print the application and then scan it back to adoptions@pethoodga.org)
