We Love BuHi Launches Podcast "Voices of a Highway"

Champion for the Immigrant Communities of Buford Highway

February 25, 2021

We Love BuHi, Inc. released its first podcast channel called Voices of a Highway, a series available now on Spotify and Google. The project offers an audio programming space for awareness, discovery, and celebration of the corridor’s immigrant communities told directly from local stakeholders. The effort is one of several Story initiatives where the nonprofit organization’s mission of preserving the multicultural identity of Atlanta’s Buford Highway is succinct to how community engagement can maintain and foster the area’s defining attribute.

“We want to create a homegrown feel through this podcast, it will be as genuine and authentic as the people and places that define Buford Highway,” says executive director Lily Pabian.

In a headline-driven world that continues to capitalize through provocative pitches on the backs of immigrant stories, Voices of a Highway aims to do the opposite. Hosting two guests per month, the organization invites past and present local stakeholders to discuss topics and themes that represent the people and perspectives of Buford Highway.

About We Love BuHi, Inc.

We Love BuHi is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit preserving the multicultural identity of Atlanta’s Buford Highway. The organization’s vision is to position the corridor, a ten-mile stretch that connects three metro municipalities, as the epicenter of an evolving South where immigrant communities thrive for generations. The potential risks and outcomes from actions that catalyze gentrification are issues where the organization seeks to impact. The agency’s core values drive how they align with the community to meeting needs, these include: Integrity, Inclusion, and Influence. We Love BuHi began as an Instagram account to document a changing Buford Highway corridor, an approximately ten-mile stretch of state road internationally recognized for its sizeable immigrant and refugee population, restaurants, and shops. The organization meets its mission through four key pillars of work: Story, Arts & Culture, Care, and Buford Highway Business. Learn more at www.welovebuhi.org or on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
