SUMMER CAMP: CITY SPRINGS MUSICAL THEATRE CAMPS

City Springs Theatre’s summer performance programs are designed to give students the opportunity to work with professional directors, music directors and choreographers, and create an exciting performing arts experience culminating in live performances on stages! Our summer programs focus on different aspects in the performing arts and include specific age ranges to ensure students have a great experience.

June 13-17:  NEXT GEN BROADWAY /  Ages: Rising 2nd – Rising 5th Grades / Mon -Fri, 9am-4pm


No experience is needed! Next Gen Broadway is a musical theatre camp for the next generation of artists and audiences. This musical theatre intensive will provide young performers the opportunity to work on all three essential disciplines that make up musical theatre: singing, dancing, and acting!  The camp will end with a final performance which will be held in the Studio Theatre at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.   $300

June 27-July 1: OLIVER, JR! / Ages: Rising 6th -8th Grades/ Mon -Fri, 9am-4pm


This summer, students will learn Oliver! JR. in only one week!  Students will learn what it means to work hard, learn fast, and have fun all at the same time!  All interested students will be accepted into the camp, and we will hold auditions for those who are interested in roles for the show before the camp week begins.  The camp will end with a final performance of Oliver! JR., held in the Studio Theatre at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center! $300

Consider yourself at home with Oliver! JR., the Broadway Junior version of Lionel Bart’s classic musical based on Charles Dickens’ novel, Oliver Twist.  The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family.

On The Town, the energetic wartime musical about three sailors on a 24-hour leave in New York City, features thrilling music by Leonard Bernstein with playful lyrics and book by Betty Comden and Adolph Green. The show’s celebrated score features a number of musical theatre standards, including “I Can Cook, Too,” “Some Other Time,” “Come Up to My Place,” and “New York, New York.”  This production is part of the City Springs Theatre Conservatory and open to any student in rising 9th through 12th grades. Students are required to audition to be cast in the show. $1200

June 20-25: High School Musical Production TECH TRACK/ Ages: Rising 9th-12th Grades

All aspects of our summer high school musical production will be produced by students, including the technical elements! Students will work side by side with City Springs Theatre’s Production Team on all technical elements including carpentry, scenic painting, lighting, sound, and stage management.  Students are required to participate in an interview for acceptance into the program. July 11-15: MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE INTENSIVE/ Middle and High School/ 10am-3pm

Led by Broadway and local professional dancers, students will focus on the stylistic and choreographic choices of musical theatre jazz AND tap!  Learn everything from original to uniquely crafted choreography from faculty trained by Broadway legends such as Bob Fosse, Jerome Robbins, Michael Bennett, Jerry Mitchell, and more!  This week-long intensive will include morning ballet and conditioning classes, across the floor technique, and Broadway jazz or tap choreography to follow!  This intensive program is designed for students in middle and high school, and for those who have had 1+ years of experience in technical dance training. $300

July 11-15: MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE INTENSIVE/ Advanced / 4-9pm

Led by Broadway and local professional dancers, students will focus on the stylistic and choreographic choices of musical theatre jazz AND tap!  Learn everything from original to uniquely crafted choreography from faculty trained by Broadway legends such as Bob Fosse, Jerome Robbins, Michael Bennett, Jerry Mitchell, and more!  This week-long intensive will include morning ballet and conditioning classes, across the floor technique, and Broadway jazz or tap choreography to follow!  This intensive program is designed for students in high school, and for those who have had 3+ years of experience in technical dance training. $300

July 25-29: ACTING INTENSIVE/ Middle & High School/ 1-5pm

The acting intensive will cover all areas and techniques of acting, ranging from performing arts through Film/TV work.  Students will learn techniques ranging in text analysis, movement, scene study, acting for camera, and more!  Classes will be divided into 2 groups, by acting level and experience. $300

JR THEATRE FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE & COMPETITION TEAM/ Ages 12-18


After an incredibly successful year at the Junior Theatre Festival (JTF), City Springs Theatre Conservatory will now expand the JTF program to have a full-length performance opportunity, in addition to the competition!  Directed by JTF Freddie G. Award winner Haden Rider, students interested in joining the team will need to participate in all of the following activities: audition this summer to be placed in the team, participate in a weeklong summer boot camp, which will accelerate the learning process of the full-scale Junior show, continue to participate in weekly rehearsals from August – October, and perform the full-scale Junior show in October at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center!  After the performance weekend, students will continue to meet on a weekly basis to prepare for the JTF Competition Weekend, held in January of 2023. More details coming soon which will include tuition, show announcement, Fall schedule and performance weekend!
