Description

Cobb County is going to the dogs! The 12th annual Woofstock, the city’s biggest “Pet Party in Park,” is set.   Woofstock, presented by Atlanta’s Star 94.1, invites people to bring their four legged family members to the park for the dog days. The festival is one of the largest pet adoption events in the Southeast with 40,000 pet-lovers over two days, and it features a variety of activities for the whole family—including all family pets—to enjoy. Admission is free.

Throughout both days, local bands will be performing with two featured acts. At 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, folk musicians JOSEPH will take the stage. Sisters Natalie Closner Schepman, Allison Closner, and Meegan Closner have been featured on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, CBS This Morning, Ellen and more. They have also performed at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonaroo, and music festivals nationwide. Then at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, Atlanta-based artist ALEX GUTHRIE will perform. Alex has recently achieved national stardom in the American Family Insurance commercial campaign with his rendition of Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day,” alongside Jennifer Hudson. Alex will feature covers and some of his own recordings.

New to Woofstock this year is the “Man’s Best Friend” cave, a man cave-esque area complete with seating, TVs, and a cooler of bones for people and their dogs to come relax and enjoy sports updates. In addition, there will be pet themed vendors with unique products as well as activities for kids, including interactive sand art, face painting, balloon animals, airbrush tattoos (for humans AND dogs!) and magic shows. Pet contests will be held throughout the day including dog agility shows with frisbee chasing, agility courses and dog tricks. A highlight of the festival will be the “Dogs Dock Diving Show,” where dogs compete and show off how far they can dive into a giant dog pool.

More than 50 non-profits & rescue groups will be participating in Woofstock Smyrna 2017, including Angels Among Us, Atlanta Humane Society, Bosley’s Place, BullPen Rescue, Caitlin’s Vine of Bravery Dog Rescue, Cherokee County Humane Society, Fancy Felines, Friends to the Forlorn, Georgia English Bulldog Rescue, Georgia Homeless Pets, Georgia Pet Tails, Good Mews, Happy Tails, Hayley Blackmon, Hooties Haven, Husky Pack Rescue, Road Trip Home, TLC Pet Rescue, and Two Tailz.
