By Sandy Springs May 20, 2016
For its sixth year, Sandy Springs will participate in the National Park Trust’s, National Kids to Park Day, on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. at Hammond Park. The goal of the National Park Trust is to combat both low park attendance and increasing obesity in children, as well as adults.

Activities for all ages will be provided by the City of Sandy Springs Recreation and Parks Department and will be held at Hammond Park, located at 705 Hammond Drive. A few activities include: obstacle course challenges, water slides, inflatables, face painting, balloon artist, raffles, DJ music, and much more. Admission is free, and activities begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.

“Sandy Springs is home to such wonderful parks like Hammond Park and is a perfect venue for families to get outdoors together. We hope that Kids to Park Day serves as a starting point to encourage more healthy outdoor activity,” said Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul.

The National Park Trust encourages children to venture outside and explore their local parks, while discovering nature and history to energize their next adventure. National Kids to Park Day is held annually on the third Saturday each May and brings in more than 100,000 families and kids to local parks across the country.
