This past week my family and I were invited to Six Flags over Georgia to experience the new Hurricane Harbor. We were given complimentary tickets, but my opinions are my own.
My husband and I both grew up in New Jersey, about an hour away from what we still call Great Adventure (now Six Flags Great Adventure). They never had a water park, like Hurricane Harbor. So needless to say we were ecstatic to go play.
First we played in Calypso Bay. The 38,000 square foot wave pool, features two massive wave generators that will create four foot waves in eight different wave patterns to mimic the high surf of the ocean. My kids and hubby said it felt like it was being in the ocean. My husband even had his ocean stance watching the kids. '
We then went down the Bonzai Pipeline. They are three unique water slides that sit atop a 41 foot tower at that will send guests barreling down through 180- and 360-degree curves. We had a blast going down the Pipeline. You can go down single or on a double tube. My son and I went down together.
Our favorite was the Tsunami Surge though. It’s the world’s first hybrid zero-gravity slide that will send thrill-seekers down five stories to the splash pool waiting below. It all starts with a drop through an enclosed tube into a whirlpool bowl with 360 degree curves and then out into a massive wave wall, for a moment of zero gravity, or weightlessness. You can go down as a single, double, triple or 4 people. My 6 year old would not go down the Bonzai Pipeline, so I knew not to even ask her about the Tsunami Surge. My husband, 10, 9 year old, and I went down. I was the lucky one to go down the wave wall backwards. There are no words to describe the elation, fear I experienced.
Finally there is the children’s water playground, Paradise Island. It is an entire acre of Hurricane Harbor with six water slides, multiple water buckets dumping about 2,000 gallons of water and hundreds of interactive water elements such as water blasters, sprayers, fountains, water wheels and pumps. My kids (especially my 6 year old) loved Paradise Island.
Hurricane Harbor also features 11 relaxing cabanas with reserved seating and food service, a beach-themed restaurant with window service, several retail locations, bathhouses, locker rentals, tube rentals and lounging chairs to sit back and enjoy the summer sun. We were lucky enough to have a cabana. It was so nice to drop off our stuff and not to have to worry about anything.
After we left Hurricane Harbor, we of course explored Six Flags over Georgia. My husband and son are the more dare devils. My girls and I refuse to go upside down. They went on Superman, while my girls and I went on the Riverview Carousel, Hanson Cars, and Santa Maria. We all went on the Wile E. Coyote Canyon Blaster, Monster Mansion, Wile E. Coyote Canyon Blaster, Dahlonega Mine Train, and the Splash water falls.
