Review: Disney’s Mary Poppins.

July 17- August 31 at Aurora Theatre.

This past weekend, my son and I went to see Disney’s Mary Poppins.  The tickets were complimentary but my opinions are my own.

The musical tells the story of everyone’s favorite “practically perfect” nanny who falls from the sky and into the hearts of the dysfunctional Banks family. With the help of a carefree chimney sweep named Bert, she teaches the family the immeasurable benefits of love, joy and mutual respect for one another one magical lesson at a time.
This was my son’s first professional musical and he loved it.  I found him sitting next to me signing supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and tapping his feet to the music.     All the magic you expect from Mary Poppins was there, including Mary Poppins flying and Bert tap dancing on the rooftops.  Days later, I am still signing Practically Perfect. The set design made you feel that you were in the Bank’s home.  The colors of the costumes were beautiful.
Galen Crawley (Mary Poppins) was wonderful, and mischievous.   Andy Meeks (Bert) was captivating.   The children, however in my opinion stole the stage.   They were absolutely amazing and wonderful.
