Myrtle Beach is only 6 hours away from Atlanta. We got to our room about 6pm, and the registration was easy and painless. We were given 5 bracelets that was our admission to the water park.
When we got to our room, all we could say was WOW! We had a suite that could had slept 8 people comfortably. We had a front bedroom that had two queen size beds. My husband and I let the kids sleep in there. There was a full galley kitchen that had new appliances, granite counter tops and a mixture of light and dark wood cabinets. In the backroom there was a Murphy bed along with a pull out sofa bed. My husband and I slept on the Murphy bed and it was rather comfortable. My favorite by far was the ocean front balcony though. We loved going to sleep and waking up to the ocean breezes and waves. All 514 units at Crown Reef have an oceanfront balcony, so there is no bad view in any of the three towers. There are also basic rooms, efficiencies and Jacuzzi suites.

Let’s now discuss the real reason why one goes to Myrtle Beach, the beach. You just need to walk through the pool, over a gated bridge and there is the Atlantic Ocean. I however was more excited about the pool. I love the ocean, don’t get me wrong. But the sand.
I much rather spend the day at the pool. The Crown Reef Resort just opened a new 2 million dollar oceanfront water park.

There are two new 4-story enclosed water slides, including the world’s first hotel “EXPLOSION” slide, the water park features a kid’s water slide, sub play area with water sprays and bucket dumps, and a sun deck. The two enclosed water slides launch from an imposing four stories high. The two-person “EXPLOSION” tube slide pumps more than 2,500 gallons of water per minute. “The ‘EXPLOSION’ is a two-person serpentine-style ride with many left-to-right turns in 54-inch enclosed flumes. There are tight radius, 360-degree turns where the fiberglass enlarges and explodes into a 72-inch diameter to provide a change of speed and direction and add an all-new experience to the ride.” My nine year said you can backwards or frontwards on the slide, and hold on tight because it is really fun. You can go on the Explosion as a single tube or as a couple, the attendants give you a good push to blast off.
The second “TWISTER” slide, a one-person body slide, pumps 800 gallons of water per minute, while the “KIDZ Twister” slide sits 8 feet tall and 20 feet long. In Both water slides your speed can be determined whether you are sitting up or down. The slides and other new water features will be enclosed during cooler months and will be open aired during the summer months meaning that Crown Reef will have the only year-round waterpark in Myrtle Beach. Everyone but my six year old went down the water slides to many times to count. The pool deck also features a pool side bar, snow cones for purchase.

The resort offers a 125-foot oceanfront pool, one indoor pool, three kid-size pools, 11 indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis, and the longest oceanfront lazy river (575 feet) in Myrtle Beach.
