I don’t know about you, but I am tired of dealing with the highs and lows of sugar rushes at every holiday. Since when did candy become the only gift for our children? I know the candy companies love the holidays, but I am not caving in to their cute little gimmicks anymore! It’s high time we parents of sugar-saturated kids demand that the Easter Bunny gets more creative and brings items of a practical and useful nature. I feel that the following are great replacements for candy and our children will love them just as much, if not more:
- Books
- Stuffed animals
- Clothes
- Bubbles
- Playdough
- Chalk
- Gardening supplies (seeds, shovel, kid gloves)
- Hair accessories
- Umbrella
- Rain boots
- Crayons and coloring books
- Bath toys
- Lip balm
- Putty
- Building bricks
- Sunglasses
- Keychain
- Hat
- Stress balls
- Gel pens
- Decorative tape
- Gift cards
- Movie tickets
- Fuzzy blanket
- Glow sticks
- Party favors
- Pencils and other stationery
- Funky socks
- Temporary tattoos
- Nail stickers
- Nail polish
- Earrings
- Mini diecast cars
- Brain teaser games
- Toy figures
- Paints
- Craft kit
- Science kit
- Sports balls
- Stickers
- Stampers
- Bubble bath and lotion
- Ok, and maybe some candy. Preferably chocolate. Dark chocolate. Just a little bit--you know, for those late night Easter basket raidings...
Happy Easter!
