Heritage Sandy Springs Museum and Park

By Heritage Sandy Springs Museum May 30, 2019

Summer is here! Parents and caregivers searching for ways to entertain kids have a resource in Sandy Springs at the Heritage Sandy Springs Museum and Park, who currently hosts more than eight programs and tours for kids ages two to 15.

The newest program, Turtle Tours, just began in April and is going strong. Turtle Tours is based on the Smithsonian Institution’s Early Enrichment program, an educational series for children ages two to five. Through stories, hands-on activities, and crafts, Heritage Sandy Springs Museum mascots “Sandy” the Chipmunk and “Spring” the Turtle will introduce preschoolers to local history and nature using a different theme for each tour.

“Our aim with Turtle Tours is to build early literacy, ignite curiosity about local history and our community, and have a super-fun time on the 4-acres of our campus,” said Annie Martin, Education Coordinator at Heritage Sandy Springs Museum and Park. “In all of our programming for kids, we use creativity and play as a way to teach kids, so they are learning, but they don’t know it. They’re just having a great time.”

Turtle Tours are held the second Thursday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Turtle Tours schedule and themes:

Admission for Turtle Tours is free (donations appreciated). Tours are for toddlers ages 2-5. Supervision required; siblings welcome. Location: Heritage Sandy Springs Museum & Park 6075 Sandy Springs Cir.
