Zoo Atlanta - Wild Winter Days

Monday, January 6 through Saturday, February 29, 2020

January 7, 2020

Wild Winter Days are back at Zoo Atlanta! Enjoy the Zoo’s cool-weather experiences at an exclusive seasonal discount. Now through February 29, 2020, general admission is 25% off across all categories.

Giant pandas Lun Lun and Yang Yang and their youngest offspring, 3-year-old twins Ya Lun and Xi Lun, are frequently seen in their outdoor habitats in winter. Native to cool, high-elevation mountain forests in China, giant pandas have dense, woolly, slightly oily coats that make them well-adapted for cold weather. Like the giant pandas, Idgie the red panda may also be found enjoying the outdoors on some of Atlanta’s chilliest days. Red pandas are native to the Himalayas.

Tuscany, Warrior and Smurf the Huacaya alpacas are also well-adapted for cooler temperatures, thanks to their fleece. Chilean flamingos, which may be found in high elevations in the southern Andes Mountains, may be seen in Flamingo Plaza along with the group of chicks hatched in 2019. Brand-new to the Zoo are two other South American natives, Lilo and Stitch the Patagonian maras. Also known as Patagonian cavies or Patagonian hares, Patagonian maras are rodents despite their rabbit-like appearance.

All animal activities are weather-permitting and may be subject to change due to weather conditions or temperatures. Regardless of temperatures, the Zoo’s Scaly Slimy Spectacular: The Amphibian and Reptile Experience is a tropical indoor destination and is home to African slender-snouted crocodiles, Georgia native diamondback terrapins and scores of other reptiles and amphibians from around the world.

The Wild Winter Days promotion is valid only through February 29, 2020, and is available online at Zoo Atlanta or in person at Zoo Atlanta Admissions. The discount may not be combined with any other offer or promotion.

Ask any Zoo Admissions associate for updated information on animal habitats. Plan your visit and create a personal itinerary at Zoo Atlanta.
