Pizza, Reimagined: The Pizza Casserole Your Family Will Love

Family loves pizza? Surprise them with this easy pizza casserole.

My family LOVES pizza, but sometimes I get tired of the same old pie.

So I came up with this pizza casserole -- which gives the kids the taste they love while giving me a break from one more pizza night.

This pizza casserole is also a great way to use up leftover veggies or meat as pizza toppings. My family likes to make a "half-and-half" casserole, as we are a house divided when it comes to pizza toppings. You could also use small ramekin type dishes for everyone to make their own "personal pan casserole."

Pizza Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of tomato sauce (15 ounces)
  • 1 can of pizza sauce (15 ounces)
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni noodles, cooked and drained
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (grated or shredded, your choice)
  • Pizza toppings of your choice.  Here are a few ideas:
    • Mushrooms
    • Pepperoni
    • Ground Italian sausage
    • Onions
    • Green peppers
    • Olives
    • Diced ham
    • Ground beef

Instructions:

  1. Grease bottom of 9x13 pan with olive oil or cooking spray.
  2. Mix the tomato sauce and pizza sauce together in a separate bowl.
  3. Cover the bottom of the pan with the cooked macaroni noodles.
  4. Pour half of the sauce mixture over the noodles; spread evenly.
  5. Layer half of the pizza toppings.
  6. Pour the other half of the sauce mix over the toppings; spread evenly.
  7. Layer the remaining half of your pizza toppings.
  8. Sprinkle on Parmesan cheese and top with mozzarella cheese.
  9. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the casserole is heated through.
