There are no Easter Egg Hunts this year and worse than that we cannot even gather for private hunts or Church services or events. So here is an idea of how you can still have an egg hunt but at home with your kids. Introducing EGG YOUR KIDS, an idea I came up with from the old Egg Your Neighbor idea.
How Does EGG YOUR KIDS Work?
It is a special egg hunt only for your kids and the kids that currently live in your house. Egg you kids involves a fun egg hunt for the kids and a reminder or the true meaning behind Easter. This is a perfect family activity because there is a way for kids of all ages to be involved and it’s a great way to share the holiday excitement with your kids!
How To EGG YOUR KIDS This Easter
STEP ONE: THE SIGN
- Create a sign for your children's bedroom door.
- Get creative with your sign. Use colored paper, and decorate with crayons, glitter and more!
- Write this message on your sign:
YOU’VE BEEN EGGED!
In our yard are 12 Easter eggs.
Eleven are filled with Easter treats.
One of the eggs is empty, but don’t be sad.
Be happy because it is Easter and we love you!!!
HAVE FUN ON YOUR EGG HUNT
Love, Mom and Dad
STEP 2: THE EGGS
- Fill 11 plastic eggs with toys or candy, tape them closed
- Leave the 12th egg empty
TIP: We also bought fun burlap sacks, Easter grass, and name tags to hang with the sign. This gives the kids a basket to use when finding their eggs. To save money and time, you can skip this step.
STEP 3: EGG YOUR KIDS!
Tape the sign** to your kids door/s. **Don't forget to bring the tape!!!**
- If you decide to include a basket, hang it on the door, too.
- Then hide all 12 eggs.
TIP: Since hiding the eggs takes a little more time than just setting something on the doorstep, you’ll want to find a time when they aren’t home.
