City Nature Challenge Returns to Atlanta April 29 - May 2

April 27, 2022

Atlanta City Nature Challenge is our city’s annual opportunity to observe and document Atlanta’s diverse ecosystem via a 4 day bio-blitz. This year’s Challenge is from April 29 through May 2, 2022.
The project is conducted via the free iNaturalist smart phone app.
About the Program
Atlanta is joining a global initiative to encourage individuals and families to document species of plants, animals and fungi found in nature using the iNaturalist app. The Atlanta City Nature Challenge's goal is to connect people to nature and help give valuable insight into what species call Atlanta home.
Download iNaturalist: Search for iNaturalist in the app store.

Get Outside: Explore nature, either in your own backyard or local greenspace.
Find Wildlife: Any plant, animal or fungi in Atlanta counts.
Take a Picture with your Smartphone: Your picture will be automatically geo-tagged and date stamped by your phone.
Share Your Observations: Upload your observations through the free iNaturalist app. It’s a friendly competition to see who can make the most observations of nature, who can find the most species, and who can engage the most people. There is no cost to participate in the Atlanta City Nature Challenge.
