After more than 12 weeks of being temporarily closed, Georgia Aquarium is reopening its doors to the public.
Beginning June 13, 2020, for Georgia Aquarium Members, and June 15, 2020, for the general public, guests will have the opportunity to visit the Aquarium to explore and enjoy its galleries and over 10 million gallons of water, but with some changes. Georgia Aquarium takes the safety of its guests and staff very seriously. The Aquarium established time blocks with limited capacity, new cleaning and sanitization protocols, and updated processes to ensure the Aquarium is operating in accordance with the advice of the state and federal governments and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
| “Although the Aquarium has been closed to guests, many of our operations have continued like animal care, nutrition, and modified safety measures for staff coming on-site,” said Dr. Brian Davis, President and CEO of Georgia Aquarium. “All of this has a financial impact and as a nonprofit organization we depend on ticket sales to fund our operations and our ongoing efforts with education, conservation, and research locally and around-the-world.” |

To provide an enjoyable and safe guest visit, Georgia Aquarium has implemented a phased approach at reopening including new procedures, promoting safe social distancing, and more:
- Georgia Aquarium is limiting the number of guests allowed in the building at one time.
- The capacity will be restricted to a number lower than the CDC recommendation for occupancy and will allow guests to visit the Aquarium while staying an appropriate distance from other guests.
- Guests will require a timed ticket, with three separate time blocks each day.
9 a.m.-12 p.m.; 1 p.m.-4 p.m.; 5 p.m.-8 p.m.
Deep Cleaning from 12-1 pm 4-5 pm and 8-9 pm, - The Aquarium will be cleaned, and all guest areas sanitized before and after each time block with hospital grade disinfectant.
- High contact areas of the Aquarium, such as railings, elevator buttons, etc., will be covered in a copper-infused film that reduces the transmission of viruses.
- Throughout the day, staff will continue to clean high touch areas.
- Social distancing is required during your visit; wall and floor signs have been placed throughout the Aquarium and on exhibits with guidance on where to stand and separate groups.
- Upon purchasing a ticket, guests will receive direction to one of two entrances, Orange or Green: signs will direct guests to their designated entrance.
- All Georgia Aquarium team members and guests will go through a contactless temperature scan prior to entering the building.
- All guests must consent to a contactless temperature scan prior to entering the building. Any person exhibiting a fever (temperature of 100.4° or higher) will not be permitted entry.
- All Georgia Aquarium team members are required to wear a facial covering and we encourage all guests to wear one as well. Masks will be available at our gates for those who might need one.
- Tickets will be available online only and will not be sold at the box office or self-service kiosks at the Aquarium. Guests must purchase tickets and make their reservations in advance. Members and current ticket holders must still reserve a visitation date and time.
- To avoid large groups of people, attractions such as the 4D theater, sea lion and dolphin presentations, Behind the Seas tours, and animal encounters will not be available.
