Crafts to do: Aurora Theatre

By Aurora Theatre July 23, 2020

Teaching artists at Aurora Theatre share an owl craft from the Magic and Mischief (Grades K-5) session of Summer Camp @ HOME. The wizarding world of Harry Potter provides the inspiration for this craft using materials found around the home.

Supplies:

  • 1 toilet paper roll
  • 1 pipe cleaner
  • 1 cupcake liner or coffee filter cut in half
  • 2 large googly eyes
  • Markers or crayons
  • Tape
  • Glue
  • Hole punch

OPTIONAL

  • Orange construction paper
  • White construction paper

Instructions:

Step 1

Hole punch two holes on either side of the bottom of the TP roll. This is where the pipe cleaner will pass through.

Step 2

Push the top of the TP roll inwards and tape create the ears.

Step 3

Decorate the owl and its wings using crayons or markers.

Step 4

Glue the wings to the back of the owl.

Step 5

Glue goggly eyes to larger cut out circles from construction paper and decorate them, or glue the googly eyes right on the owl.

Step 6

Draw a beak on the owl, or attach a cut out triangle from construction paper.

Step 7

Pass the pipe cleaner through the holes and twist it around the wrist to wear!
