CITY SPRINGS THEATRE'S SUMMER MUSICAL “ALL SHOOK UP” June 29 - July 1

45 Students from Across Metro-Atlanta Cast and Crew for Production Featuring Elvis Classics

June 29, 2023

City Springs Theatre Conservatory, the arts education training arm of the City Springs Theatre Company, presents its summer production, presented by Delta Community Credit Union. Directed by Broadway veterans Kristine Reese and Billy Tighe, “All Shook Up will run for four performances on June 29, 30 and July 1 in the Byers Theatre at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center (1 Galambos Way, Sandy Springs).

Since 2018, City Springs Theatre Conservatory has served more than 124,000 Atlanta-area students with educational programs, including student matinees and in-class virtual programming. The Conservatory includes a pre-professional program, a summer high school musical, a college preparatory program, and private lesson training in voice, acting, and dance. For the summer production, all aspects will be produced by students. In addition to the students that are performing on stage, students in the technical track will work side by side with City Springs Theatre’s production team on all technical elements including carpentry, scenic painting, lighting, sound, and stage management. While students were required to interview in order to participate, all levels of experience were encouraged to interview, as the program is tailored to different levels, including leadership opportunities for more experienced students.

“This summer program is particularly special since the show is entirely designed and built by students in our tech track. And, the talent in the performance track is off the charts. Our students are the best of the best in Atlanta, coming from all major metro counties, so the program is extremely competitive,” said Executive Director Natalie DeLancey. “All students have a four-week immersive opportunity to bring this production to life on the same stage where our City Springs Theatre Company professionals perform each year. We’re especially proud of our graduating seniors taking the time to lend their talents to the production before pursuing degrees in musical theatre at colleges across the country this fall.”

Inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley and based on the book by Joe DiPietro, All Shook Up is directed by Broadway Veterans and City Springs Theatre Conservatory Instructors Kristine Reese and Billy Tighe, who most recently were seen on stage in City Springs Theatre Company’s production of Monty Python’s Spamalot as the Lady of the Lake and Sir Galahad. Set in 1955, in a square little town in a square little state guitar-playing young man rides in on his motorcycle, changing everything and everyone he meets. Loosely based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have audience’s jumpin’ out of their blue suede shoes with such classics as “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Don’t Be Cruel.”

With a cast of 32 high school students from across the metro Atlanta area, All Shook Up stars Tsumari Patterson (School of the Arts at Central Gwinnett High School) as Chad, Samantha Scruggs (Johns Creek High School) as Natalie Haller and Zach Feeney (Denmark High School) as Jim Haller.

Also in the cast are Liz Olaribigbe as Sylvia, Kenya Perry as Lorraine, James Wood as Dennis, Ava Haworth as Miss Sandra, Katherine Ferrell as Mayor Matilda Hyde, Preston Kelly          as Dean Hyde, Ryan Smith as Sheriff Earl and Rhylee Mirus as Henrietta. The ensemble is comprised of Chiara Bulkin, Remey Calero, Ryan Caraway, Eric Clayton, Avery Fallon, Elise Friderich, Kayla Furie, Charlotte Glenn, Susan Googe, Trevor Groce, Gabe Hardin, Trey Hill, Kennedy Johnson, Mary Kirchner, Aleksei Kozlovski, Kindle Martin, Amelia NeSmith, Ava Grace Roberts, Sati Rogerson, Valena Volk, Veronika Volk and Claire Zinck.
