Bret Michaels American singer/songwriter Bret Michaels has sold over 50 million records worldwide, is a reality TV superstar with some of the highest-rated reality shows in history, as well as a lifelong type 1 diabetic. An entrepreneur, Michaels has created the multi-million dollar selling Pets Rock Collection with PetSmart, launched his own line of custom guitars and created “Bret’s Blend, Diet Trop-A-Rocka” which is a number one selling beverage for Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group. Michaels, personally and through his Life Rocks Foundation has helped raise millions of dollars for charity and makes donations to not only diabetes awareness and research but to such causes as childhood cancer, Veterans organizations, PetSmart Charities, Operation Homefront, Fealgood Foundation and more. His talent, business acumen and natural candor have solidified him as “a cultural touchdown” in the words of former Viacom CEO Judy McGrath and made him one of the most sought-after performers, keeping him on the road for each of the last 10 years, for nearly 300 live performances, speaking engagements, charitable concerts and private engagements yearly.
Michaels is currently on his 2019 Unbroken World Tour, in support of his newest single “Unbroken,” which he co-wrote and recorded with his youngest daughter, Jorja Bleu. The song is about resilience and overcoming adversity, and fittingly, the video features an array of courageous people who demonstrate what it truly means to be “Unbroken,” such as Iraq War Veteran and “Dancing with the Stars” alum, Noah Galloway. The video just surpassed 1 Million views on YouTube—proving that, like Michaels himself, the song’s momentum can’t be broken.
Starship Featuring Mickey Thomas Mickey Thomas joined Jefferson Starship in 1979. Mickey’s voice had become legendary after recording “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” with the Elvin Bishop Band and he was planning to pursue a solo career. Jefferson Starship quickly proved to be the right decision as they recorded their first hit, “Jane”, almost immediately after getting together. In 1985, Starship released the album that would come to define the eighties, Knee Deep in the Hoopla. Featuring two #1 hits – “We Built this City” and “Sara” – the album reached #7 on Billboard and went platinum. Starship followed-up their initial success with another #1 single, “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” featured on the soundtrack for Mannequin. As Starship continued to reach the top of the charts, MTV infiltrated pop culture and the band released videos for all of their hits that are still popular today.
