The critically acclaimed National Ballet Theater of Odessa - Ukraine returns to the Fox Theatre to perform a brand-new production of “Romeo and Juliet,” the world’s greatest romantic tragedy.
One of classical ballet’s all-time favorites, the National Ballet Theater of Odessa’s production of “Romeo and Juliet” is set to Sergei Prokofiev’s romantic and powerful score with new choreography by Mikhail Lavrovsky. Alternating in the title role of Juliet are Elena Dobryanskaya and Olga Vorobyeva Romeo will be danced by Sergey Dotsenko and Stanislav Skrynnik.
The New York Times describes the National Ballet Theater of Odessa, Ukrainian’s productions as “full of enchantment.” Northampton Chronicle & Echo raves “enchanting from start to finish, the National Ballet Theater of Odessa managed to bring a tear to my eye... the whole performance was executed with ultimate precision which saw not a step out of place.”
Arguably the most famous love story of all time, Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” tells the tale of a boy and a girl from warring families who meet and fall in love. Fate is not on their side, however. Due to a series of fateful misunderstandings, the story of the two young lovers who try to elope ends in tragedy.
