Giveaway 2 tickets to Treetop Quest

By Diana and Eric Cole August 3, 2013
My family and I were invited to Treetop Quest (2020 Clean Water Drive Buford, GA 30519) this past weekend to review the facility.   Can I tell you how much fun my kids and husband had?    I was on the ground watching my chickpea (my 5 year old) do her course.   My husband is going to write his review of Courses 1-3, but I am going to tell you about the chickpea course (ages 4-6).

First, question I had as a Mom, is how safe is Treetop Quest .   The staff first harnesses you in a contraption and you are then belted to a wire above you.  My 5 year was VERY scared the first time she went on the course and there was another little boy who wanted to go ahead of her.   First they attached their belt to her, then another staff member came and attached the little boy’s belt to the other staff member.   Finally they put the little boy in front of my daughter, the whole time all the kids were attached to someone or something.  Safety is a priority.  I asked a staff member how much training they received.   They have an orientation for 21 hours and they have to know all of the courses backwards and forward.

I can only tell you about the chickpea course.   My youngest was PERTERFIED of it.   She could do the first few obstacles no problem.   But the more into the course, the harder it becomes.  A staff member saw my child, jumping off the obstacle and then climbing back on because she was scared.  My youngest is my most stubborn child…LOL.   Sarah saw this and said “o, no” and proceeded to help her with the remainder of the obstacles.  Sarah was so awesome, she carried my youngest over the tight rope.  Sarah said later to me that my daughter was one of the more difficult children to do the course.  To her future Kindergarten teacher, I pity you.    My daughter went on to do the course two more times and to quote her “this was the BEST day ever, Mommy.”

Levels 1 and 2 are connected with swings, nets, balance beams, horizontal ladders, and zip lines while level 3 are all zip lines.  My two oldest (9 and 8 years old) were a bit scared of the course on level one at first but got accustomed to the challenges pretty quickly.  The zip line turned out to be their favorite as was mine.  I found it a bit relaxing compared to the other connections.  Level two had some more complicated nets to get through, which caused my oldest to fall down a few times using the crawling option to complete.  The loose swings was the most difficult for us since there was a lot movement needing good coordination and balance in order to take each step.  My two oldest did admit to being nervous to cross over the loose swings.  Level three turned out to be their favorite course since it was all zip lines.  My oldest had some trouble with the zip lines at first since his timing was off trying to land on the platform.  This caused him to bounce backwards and recover by using his hands on the steel cable wire to get back to the platform.

Swings, nets, balance beams, and horizontal ladders bring challenges to all participants such as balance and coordination.  The zip line is the quickest way to get from one tree to the other but actually requires timing skills once your destination is reached.  You must land your feet on the platform upon arrival to avoid bouncing backwards.

Treetop Quest  offers Birthday Parties, Staff building, Corporate Retreats, Religious retreats, and Scouting events.

From speaking to my kids and other kids, it’s a lot of fun and something they would like to do again in the near future.  Patience is very much a virtue as you must allow anyone in front of you to finish his or her way to the next tree before taking your turn.

Treetop Quest  is open every weekend until the 1st of December (every day during the Summer). It is best to check hours on the website or call them as hours change from one month to another, according to the season.
