The Southern-Fried Gaming Expo (SFGE) shines a spotlight on competition during this year's 10th annual event focused entirely on gaming. Beyond the nearly 500 arcade games, pinball machines, and video game console systems along with a 1,000-game-strong tabletop library that will be available for free play for attendees throughout the weekend, SFGE elevates its focus on competitive aspects of the medium.

● Esports Tournaments: Carolina Games Summit will be hosting a plethora of competitive tournaments at SFGE including Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Fortnite, Street Fighter 6, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Halo Infinite, and a 3-day Gran Turismo 7 tournament ahead of the new movie from Sony Pictures Entertainment. Carolina Games Summit’s tournaments are perfect for amateurs and professionals alike, being accessible for newer players while featuring top-of-the-line talent for more seasoned competitors. Tournaments are sponsored by Red Bull and offer thousands of dollars in prize money and college scholarships.
● TV's Phil Moore Hosts Live Game Show Friday at 8:30PM: 90's kids and new fans alike will be entertained as Phil Moore, Emmy-winning video game show host, and producer, emcees SFGE's Level-Up: The Game Show. A fun, and energetic live event, Level Up pits teams of contestants against one another to compete in silly physical challenges, answer trivia questions, and play video games in order to win prizes. In addition, Mr. Moore will co-host this year's popular HOTLanta Extreme Eating Challenge.
● Play-and-Win Tabletop Board Games: An annual destination for board game and tabletop fanatics, SFGE is giving away 200 physical copies of popular titles for guests who check out, play, and successfully win each game in question. Additionally, SFGE is hosting a number of sanctioned tournaments on a variety of games including Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, and Terraforming Mars, among others.
While there's an enhanced focus on competitive gaming at SFGE 2023, family-friendly fun still reigns supreme. Guests of all ages will enjoy games, celebrity and industry guests, 100+ vendors, and 100+ events across over 150,000 square feet of exhibit space in the Cobb Galleria Centre and Renaissance Waverly Hotel & Convention Center all weekend long. - Hot off a San Diego Comic Con debut, SFGE will be only the 2nd publicly available location to play Stern Pinball's newest title, VENOM. We'll have 10 copies of the game in the Marco Specialties booth in Hall D of the Cobb Galleria. Check out the game trailer here.
- SFGE is hosting the world premiere of the new documentary feature Token Taverns: An Arcade Bar Documentary on Saturday at 7PM in the Galleria Room at the hotel. Film subject Retro Ralph and director Bob Rose will be attending. Learn more on our website.
