Planned PEThood of Georgia Pet of the Week: Mufasa

By Planned PEThood of Georgia May 7, 2020

Planned PEThood of Georgia is a non-profit organization. Their mission is to reduce the number of animals killed in the local shelters and to provide affordable services, not to make a profit. They keep overhead costs low in order to keep their prices affordable. Donations are welcome to assist with their efforts!

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION PRIOR TO INQUIRING OR APPLYING FOR MUFASA. HE HAS MULTIPLE SPECIAL NEEDS THAT REQUIRE AN EXPERIENCED AND FINANCIALLY STABLE ADOPTER.

Mufasa is 9 years old and was rescued from a kill shelter. He was a hot mess. Mufasa's long hair was so matted that he had to be shaved. During the process, he was cut and required several stitches. We also realized he was declawed and very skinny.

Mufasa has an EXTREMELY loud meow. He also meows instead of hissing. Mufasa is a sweet kitty but needs a sugar momma or daddy as his special needs require a financial commitment. He also has the bluest eyes you have ever seen! Mufasa really enjoys sleeping. Provide him with a comfy pet bed and he will hold it down all day long. Mufasa currently lives with a dog and other cats.

Mufasa has a chronic disorder that is likely to be cancer or IBS/IBD. Further diagnosis would be more invasive than Mufasa can handle and he is stable and doing well.

Mufasa suffers from the following issues:

  1. Arthritis - moderately severe in elbows and mild in wrists
  2. Bone Marrow - non-regenerative anemia
  3. Thickened Small Intestines
  4. Heart Murmur
  5. Declawed - refuses to use the litter box; uses puppy pads but often has misses and loose/soft stool

The following items are necessary for his ongoing success:

  1. A prescription diet of hydrolyzed Royal Canin food (wet and dry) for his intestinal disorder
  2. Probiotic for good gut bacteria
  3. Monthly Adequan injection for arthritis
  4. Monthly B12 injection
  5. Dasuquin (powder supplement) every other day for joint health

If you would like to meet Mufasa please submit an application at Planned Pethood of Georgia. Please email his Foster Mom, Michele with any questions.
The adoption fee is $75.00.
